About me
Dr. Zwaan has been practicing medicine on the New Hampshire Seacoast since 1997.
He was born and raised in the Netherlands, and moved to the U.S. at the age of thirteen. He attended high school in Maine. Dr. Zwaan received his B.A. in Biology from the University of Vermont and his M.D. from New York Medical College. Dr. Zwaan received a military scholarship for medical school and did his internship at Naval Hospital Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina. He then trained for six months at the Naval Aerospace Medical Institute in Pensacola, Florida.
Dr. Zwaan served for three years as a Naval Flight Surgeon assigned to a Marine Corps Helicopter Squadron (HMM263) in North Carolina.
Upon completion of his military commitment Dr. Zwaan finished his training in Family Medicine at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, Vermont.
He then moved to Exeter, and after working in group practices, Dr. Zwaan opened his own solo, private practice in August, 2004. Dr. Zwaan is board certified in Family Medicine and was on staff at Exeter Hospital for over 20 years.
Dr. Zwaan and his wife Laurie live in Exeter. They have two grown children. He is involved in his community. He enjoys meeting pilots with various backgrounds and interesting stories.
